Jeremy is the Founder and Portfolio Manager of Irving Investors, a long/short equity and credit fund that also participates in private investment opportunities. Irving is sector agnostic and focuses on high growth companies and disruptive technologies.
Jeremy began his career in advertising and left the agency world in 2005 to start Urban Hostess, his first entrepreneurial venture. Urban Hostess sells real estate focused corporate relocation software to numerous Fortune 500 companies. As President of Urban Hostess, Abelson was responsible for negotiating contracts with JPMorgan, UBS, Credit Suisse, and Bank of America, among others. Urban Hostess was acquired by MNS, a New York based real estate brokerage and investment company, in 2010.
In 2006, Jeremy started Pocket Change, an e-publication covering luxury items in New York and Los Angeles. Pocket Change grew rapidly to include an e-newsletter, broadband video channel, blog and multiple promotional platforms. In 2008, Jeremy sold Pocket Change to thelab, a media production company.
Jeremy has appeared as an expert on multiple television shows and in popular publications including: CNN, CNBC, Fox Business News, The Today Show, Good Morning America, The NYTimes, The WSJ, and The NYPost.
He also speaks regularly at New York University, Columbia Business School and the New York Media Summit. Jeremy is originally from Silicon Valley and graduated from The University of Michigan.
Matt Cornwell is President of the Northwest Market with FirstBank, where he has worked since 2003. In this role, he manages over $1.3 billion in assets, and has experience in many areas of real estate lending, including commercial projects in the multi-family, office, hotel, industrial, and retail sectors. Furthermore, he has significant experience managing large commercial construction projects. Matt has served on the FirstBank’s Credit Policy Committee, Interest Rate Hedging Committee, and Employee Engagement Committee.
Matt serves on the Board of Trustees for the Mile High United Way, is a member of the Board of Directors and Treasurer for the Jefferson Center for Mental Health Foundation, , serves on the Board of Advisors for the University of Colorado Denver Business School, and is a member of the Chancellor’s Development Committee for the University of Colorado Denver.
Matt received his BSBA with an emphasis in Finance from the University of Colorado, Denver. Since joining FirstBank, he has received his Graduate Banking degree from the Pacific Coast Banking School in Seattle, WA.
Co-Founder and Principal of Elevation Development Group, a real estate investment and development firm based in Denver. Farber was an attorney with Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck in Denver. Farber’s practice focused on the acquisition, financing, disposition, leasing and development of various real estate assets including apartments, office buildings, shopping centers and vacant land. Previously, Farber worked at Dewey & LeBoeuf in Washington DC. Farber received his BA from the University of Arizona and his JD from Benjamin Cardoza School of Law.
Scott oversees ACM’s Tax Practice across all four of our locations. He is driven to help every client reduce their tax bills in the most efficient way. Through the combination of his strong client service and creative and technical approach to tax planning, Scott has successfully enabled clients to save money and minimize their capital gains taxes.
He focuses on serving closely held, middle-market clients in the real estate, construction, and hospitality industries, providing assistance with structural planning, tax credits, partnership accounting, cost segregation, and property transactions. He actively participates on the planning committee for the AICPA Construction & Real Estate Conference, and previously served on the real estate and construction committees for the Colorado and Washington Societies of CPAs.
Mindy Humphrey is one of Blue Sky Fund's newest executive board members and certainly one of the sassiest. Mindy brings nearly 16 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry from previous roles such as Senior Account Executive and Vice President of Business Development for a national title company prior to returning "home" to Land Title in 2018. A seasoned title industry veteran, Mindy prides herself on providing the ultimate customer experience through her commitment to client relationships, her broad network of industry professionals and her extensive title and escrow knowledge.
Mindy graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder and has been dedicated to Colorado since her arrival from Toledo, Ohio over 25 years ago. Outside of her commercial real estate role, you can find Mindy working with nonprofits such as Soup for the Soul for Porter Hospice Foundation and Wish for Wheels. Her five nieces, nephew, and six godchildren keep her on her toes along with her tennis, cycling, golfing, skiing and swimming activities.
Matt Joblon serves as Chief Executive Officer for BMC Investments, a real estate investment company specializing in the operation, development, acquisition, and redevelopment of different uses of properties throughout the United States. BMC currently owns, operates and is developing a portfolio of over $500 million in different properties. Prior to joining BMC, Mr. Joblon was Managing Director of Friedman Equities, LLC, for 8 years. During this period, he sourced, structured, and executed over $200 million of real estate transactions throughout the United States. Mr. Joblon has extensive experience in negotiating equity joint venture structures, first deed of trust and mezzanine debt structures, hotel management and technical service agreements, land and asset purchase and sale agreements, and managing large teams of consultants during the entitlement, planning, and construction stages of each project. Mr. Joblon received a B.B.A. in Entrepreneurship and Real Estate Finance from Babson College.
A graduate of Miami University in Oxford Ohio, Matt started his professional career designing schools with Steed Hammond Paul Architects in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 2001 he came to Colorado, starting a nine year career with Fentress Architects. In 2011 Matt founded Clutch Design Studio. As the firm’s leader he is committed to being involved in all projects from conception to completion. Outside the office Matt enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife and son. On the weekends you can find him at the gym or riding his Ducati in the mountains.
Matt Weiss is a founding member of the Blue Sky Fund and a native of Colorado. He graduated from Cherry Creek High School and then went to The University of Vermont and majored in Political Science. Matt received his Masters in Education Leadership and Policy from The University of Colorado and is an educator at Cherry Creek High School where he teaches world history, economics, and runs the Cherry Creek Sports Network broadcast media program. Matt is passionate about education and works hard to ensure students are receiving the best experiences possible. Additionally, Matt is an assistant varsity lacrosse coach at Creek, where they most recently won the state championship in 2017 and 2019.
Sam Zaitz is a Colorado native that has never left. After graduating from Cherry Creek High School, Sam went up to Fort Collins and studied Finance and Real Estate. Quickly after completion, he came back to Denver and joined Staubach Retail when he stayed for over 6 years. Following Staubach, Sam moved over to Legend Retail Group/Urban Legend and was named a Partner in 2013. In addition to the Blue Sky Fund, Sam serves on the board/committees of Jewish Family Service and Shalom Park (Where his 96 year old Grandmother still resides). When not working, Sam loves to spend time with his wife and 2 children and as much time on the golf course as possible.
